| Mission Statement / Description
of Practice: |
| |
|
| |
Attorney Mark D. Schubert focuses his
practice on divorce and family law and alternative dispute resolution.
His family law practice includes representation of people in divorce and
legal separation cases, as well as those involving custody and physical
placement, child support, property valuation and division issues, spousal
maintenance (alimony), non-marital relationship property issues, paternity,
guardianships, step-parent adoptions, pre-nuptial and marital property
agreements, name changes and other matters. He also offers assistance
to clients in resolving other (non-family law) civil disputes using the
collaborative process and other ADR techniques such as mediation. Mark’s philosophy in
representing people in divorce and family law cases is to do everything he
reasonably can to help his client reach a fair and efficient resolution, but
to do so in a way that minimizes the associated trauma and emotional impact.
His feeling is that the issues themselves in a family law case are very
often difficult for his client. For example, going through a divorce,
or having to endure a custody fight, are extraordinarily stressful events.
While he is unwavering in the commitment to protect his client's rights, he
therefore strives as best he can to do that in a way that helps to minimize
these emotional costs.
Mark is also keenly aware of the growing application of the collaborative
process and other ADR techniques to resolve other, non-family law related cases, and offers
a variety of ADR related services for a wide range of other types of
civil disputes.
Mark is enthusiastic about the collaborative process because he believes
that in many cases, it offers the opportunity for the people involved to
resolve disputed issues in a way that is much more respectful, positive and
peaceful, and much less stressful, adversarial and costly, than other
alternatives such as the traditional court system.
If you are faced with a divorce, family law or other family law issue and are
considering retaining an attorney, or if you would like to learn more about
how the collaborative process may help in the resolution of your family or
non-family dispute, you should know that Mark provides a
brief initial consultation at no cost or obligation. If you would like
an initial consultation, please contact him using the information listed
above.
